Crownline 316LS - Packing in the fun.At 32 1/2 feet, the 316 LS isn’t only the latest 2005 addition to the Crownline family, it just might be the largest bowrider on the market today. The 316 has the size, accommodations and speed to provide an ideal experience for a family. Or, six couples could spend a pleasant day at anchor in a quiet bay on an inland lake. And, she could just as easily take a couple on a summer afternoon cruise from Chicago to Saugatuck, Michigan, traveling about 100 miles in two and a half hours at 45 mph. They could have dinner, spend the night aboard, wake up, shower, enjoy breakfast and be back in Chicago before noon.
The overnight accommodations are quite spacious—more so than you would think an open bowrider could provide. But then again, the 316 LS is a large boat.
The port-side sleeping cabin has a double bed, air conditioning and a port light with a privacy screen. The forward cabin bulkhead holds stereo cabinets, a shorepower panel, circuit breakers, air-conditioning controls and a 120-volt receptacle.
Directly across the way on the starboard side is the enclosed head that includes a freshwater shower with a sump pump, sink, vanity, VacuFlush toilet and power vent. The spacious cockpit can be gated off forward and aft—a nice safety feature when the boat is in motion, especially if you have kids on board. Also in the cockpit area is an open galley with a sink and refrigerator. The helm features a flip-up double seat, a tilt steering wheel, Faria gauges and a stereo remote. The cockpit accommodates eight adults—two at the helm, two in the port seating area, two on the aft bench, plus there’s room for another couple on the starboard side, just in case. Forward of the cockpit is the bow seating area, which can handle another six adults.
Aft is a great sunpad. Just drop the bench backrest and stretch out. If you need to cool down, try the aft shower. There’s an enormous amount of storage on the 316 LS. A hydraulic lift opens the sunpad to reveal stowage. It looks as if it could be filled with water and double as a wading pool. There’s a walk-through on each side. Other huge storage areas can be found under the starboard seating as well as beneath the bench. Power options include twin MerCruisers at 250 to 425 hp, and twin Volvos at 280 to 420 hp. Whether you cruise on big or small water, this versatile boat provides lots of options for a couple, a family or even a party of 12. (bottom, left to right) This enclosed head sports a freshwater shower, sink, vanity and toilet. The forward cabin bulkhead holds stereo and AC controls, the shorepower panel, circuit breakers, a 12-volt receptacle and a microwave. A flip-up double seat, a tilt steering wheel and full instrumentation highlight the helm.
